Korean Folk Village- Educational Trip

So on this scorching day we set off for a Korean Folk Village.  I took a TON of pictures but these are my favorite ones!  We traveled about two hours from Korea University and came up on this....
Here is our group waiting to go in...
 Entrance to the Folk Village.
Can't remember what these are but I remember how cool they looked!
This is just a pretty sight.
 Traditional Folk Dancers.
Entrance to temple used for communal celebrations.
 Inside temple.
Used to store grains, food, spices, etc.

These colorful ribbons were used to keep away negative energy and bad spirits from the community.
It was required that you take off your shoes before stepping inside one of these.
Energy source: running water.  So beautiful.
Bridge that connected one side of the village from another.

A Seoul Sunrise

“There was never a night or a problem that could defeat sunrise or hope.”

Exploring in and around Korea University!

This is where I sleep!  Dorm life, niggas!

So we walked around and got hungry.  Pizza anyone? Look, they even wrap it in a bow!  If that doesn't make you feel special then you have no soul.
Bulgogi pizza. Not bad, not bad at all.
Drying chilis is a popular thing.  They're everywhere.
 We walked for four hours...
 Open Markets... LOVE!!!
Strip joints that sit above 24 hour arcade.  Coincidence? I think not!!!
Super chill, wonderful girls who I've spent all day with.

Korean breakfast anyone?

Cereal, toast, pasta (random), potatoes, fruit, boiled eggs (I could live off these alone), juice, and rice mush. I think boiled eggs and rice mush (that's not what it's called in reality, but whatevs) are the only traditional things on the menu. Rice mush tastes like grits... tasteless. But when you sleep through dinner the night before, you eat it all lol.

Happy Birthday Mel!!!

Shout-out to my beautiful Mel!  I couldn't be there to celebrate your birthday, but we can do that when I get back!!!  I love you so much babe!  See you soon!

My TTU Dorm < KU Dorm

I swipe my digital key to go into my room and my door welcomes me by saying something in Korean.  How sweet!
Also, don't forget to take your shoes off and put some slippers on.  It's the cordial thing to do...
And last, but certainly not least, the view from my dorm.  Not too shabby.

New happiness chapter: KOREA!

It's 5:00 am in Korea, and we have just arrived from LAX.  Two hour bus ride from Incheon International Airport and we're sitting in the lobby of Korea University.  You can't see the excitement in our faces, probably because of the jet-lag, but holy crap we're in KOREA!!!  This is the beginning of an adventure that I can't wait to get started.  Orientation starts now!  Next month, rural area and elementary school children to teach!  On the pursuit of happiness.  Not just mine, but hopefully other people too.... :)
